Mechanisms of molecular evolution.

چکیده
Both drift and selection are important for nucleotide substitutions in evolution. The nearly neutral theory was developed to clarify the effects of these processes. In this article, the nearly neutral theory is presented with special reference to the nature of weak selection. The mean selection coefficient is negative, and the variance is dependent on the environmental diversity. Some facts relating to the theory are reviewed. As well as nucleotide substitutions, illegitimate recombination events such as duplications, deletions and gene conversions leave indelible marks on molecular evolution. Gene duplication and conversion are sources of the evolution of new gene functions. Positive selection is necessary for the evolution of novel functions. However, many examples of current gene families suggest that both drift and selection are at work on their evolution.

Pareto Optimal Balancing of Four-bar Mechanisms Using Multi-Objective Differential Evolution Algorithm
Four-bar mechanisms are widely used in the industry especially in rotary engines. These mechanisms are usually applied for attaining a special motion duty like path generation; their high speeds in the industry cause an unbalancing problem. Hence, dynamic balancing is essential for their greater efficiency. In this research study, a multi-objective differential evolution algorithm is used for P...
متن کاملMolecular mechanisms involved in multidrug resistance in breast cancer therapy
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women. Chemotherapy is the main strategy in the treatment of this disease especially in the advanced form of the disease. Despite the recent progress in the development of new chemotherapy, the effectiveness of these drugs has dramatically reduced due to multidrug resistance. The phenotype of multidrug resistance (MDR) can occur through different me...

متن کاملSocial life, evolution of intelligence, behaviour and human brain size
Social life is one of the most critical factors of the evolution of the behavior of non-human primates and humans. Several factors, such as an increase in brain size, adaptive modules, and grooming, are related to the complexities of social groups. Although some scientists have mentioned foraging as a rival hypothesis for the evolution of behavior, in this research, we tried to investigate the ...
متن کاملComputational Study on Reduction Potential of [CoP4N2(OH2)2]2+ as a Super-Efficient Catalyst in Electrochemical Hydrogen Evolution
Hydrogen is considered as a unique choice for future world’s resources. The important parameter in the process of hydrogen production is the value of reduction potential for the used catalyst, in direct contact with consumed energy in process. The application of computational methods to design and modify molecular catalysts is highly regarded. This study sought to explore Density Functional...
متن کاملVascular Aging and Diseases: Molecular Mechanisms and Influences
Vascular aging plays an important role in the mortality of the elderly, but vascular aging can be dependent on other factors such as diseases. Various diseases such as Alzheimer, diabetes, thalassemia, and other diseases affect the mechanisms of vascular aging. It will harm the recovery process of these patients. There are methods for measuring vascular aging such as instrumental measurements a...
